I have heard it as - phonetically - Gee - von - chee. Is that right? I don't think it's - phonetically - Giv - en - chee. Am I right?|||More like jee vahn shee. The ch is a soft sound not a hard one. Hard ch is like Charlie or Chortle. The middle syllable has a nasal vowel, so you do not really pronounce the letter 'n'.|||jee - von - che|||Aah oui mon amour..its zee-van-sh矛|||it's closer to ji von shee
with the j pronounced more like the s in pleasure not like the j in jump.
The i is not quite said like 'ee', but it is not exactly like an English i as in "little" .... it is somewhere in between that and 'ee'
